Hi Lloyd,
Maggie (Zee’s litter) and I spent some time in the Great North Woods ( Pittsburg and Stewartstown) over the weekend. As pictured, we got our first bird together on Saturday. She did very well, pointing all 3 species…grouse (7), woodcock (2) and pheasant (1). She locked up nicely on grouse 7 times but couldn’t contain herself and bumped each of them. She was at a nice distance each time, but would creep ahead before I got there and the birds flushed…I think a lot of whoa work is in order…considering she turned 6 months today…I’ll take it!
I hope all is well with you folks and you were able to get the dogs out this weekend…

Hope you're finding lots of birds up there. A little early yet down here for high woodcock numbers, but we found a honey hole close to home perfect for afterwork outings. We moved 4 this evening in a 4 acre patch of cover. Here's Annie's first woodcock. It's clear there's nothing she'd rather do than hunt and she's very eager to please.
