Long Gone Mersadies pointing a grouse April 23, 2017

Steve Levesque and I ran some dogs yesterday on wild birds, on this brace , that we had them down for one hour and 20 minutes ( Sadie and His Chelsea female) we moved 3 grouse, getting 3 pointed ( possibly 4 as Steve heard one get up near the end of the workout) and 2 woodcock that we got " work " on ! Now these are not earth shaking numbers, but Tony and I the other day ran a couple of braces and were lamenting about the lack of grouse, but we moved 5...plus some woodcock. The point is, if we had 9 grouse in three braces...perhaps it is not a dire as we are thinking ? We are hearing some drummers, and that will only get stronger. If we have a good hatch, and that of course means optimum weather conditions also, we might be O.K. this coming summer for training and next fall for shooting. BTW, woodcock numbers look good.
